"mother, i'm here bring my khichdi. she replied please wait for some time; i am cleaning the kitchen. after some time lord asked again where is my khichdi,i need to go to the temple before the door is opened, she replied wait for some time i am taking bath. lord entered in the house and saw a saint was sleeping in her house, lord understood that this saint had taught her all those thing. then maa karma bring the khichdi and lord ate it in haste and went away without cleaning the mouth. when the priest unveiled the lord;s alter at temple he saw some khichdi on lord mouth. he humbly asked, 'hey lord how did this khichdi stick on to your mouth'. lord replied to saint that there is a mother who is residing in this village and every day cooking khichdi for me. every day she prepare it very fast but today she was very late in cooking because she was busy performing the rituals told by a saint to her. lord then requested to the priest to go that saint house and persuade him to revert back whatever he said to my mother karma bai. the priest did the same. after hearing this, the saint got scared and he immediately went to karma bai house and spoke "these rules and rituals are applicable to saints like me, you can prepare the offerings the way you used to do". from next day onwards karma bai started following her previous schedule and lord came everday and enjoyed the khichdi with love as before. one day karma bai died. lord was very unhappy and he cried. the temple priest unveiled the alter and he saw that that the lord was weeping.the priest approached to the king and told him that the lord is crying. the king came to the lord and asked: o lord, why are you crying? had we done some mistake, lord replied : hey king my mother (karma bai) died today. now who will prepare khichdi for me everday? hearing this, the king replied lord we cant bring the taste of karma bai khichdi but from today onwards we will first offer khichdi to you. since then, khichdi is offered to lord jagganath everywhere. the name karma came out from the word "maa jaldi kar" (kar-maa), lord used to say everytime to her to prepare khichdi fast.
